About Anna
What led you to join this profession?
The decision to join the healthcare field stems from a personal hospitalization as a young child. The care provided during the hospitalization made a lasting impression and I wanted to be able to have that same positive impact on others’ care. This dream came to light after graduating from nursing school and working as a nurse in the post-operative setting for a year. However, this dream flourished when I was able to secure a position in Maternal Child Health at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Maternal Child Health was the most intriguing specialty in nursing school, so being able to fulfill a dream as well as a passion was a rewarding milestone. During my five years of experience as a Labor and Delivery Nurse, I came to realize that I wanted to have a larger impact on individuals’ care. Therefore, I went back to school to become a Certified Nurse Midwife to be able to educate and empower individuals to advocate for themselves and their wishes.
What do you enjoy most about your profession?
The most enjoyable aspect of the midwifery role is being there for patients and having a form of continuity of care. Being able to provide prenatal care to individuals throughout their pregnancy and then being able to guide them through bringing a precious life into this world is beyond rewarding. In this role, I am dedicated to providing the highest quality of care for the patients I serve.
A little more about myself.
My husband and I have two dogs who are spoiled to the core. When it comes to dogs, the bigger they are the better since there is more to love. This explains why we have Rottweiler and Cane Corso. We all love going to the beach and relaxing together!
